I seem to be in the middle of a pumpkin-decorating craze. So far I’ve decorated seven pumpkins and it isn’t even October. My new Mod Podge Fabric Pumpkins are a charming addition to the growing seasonal display around my home.

Recently I received a box full of Mod Podge products that I’m excited to use throughout the holiday season. The assortment includes several finishes and specialty formulas—perfect for experimenting on seasonal crafts. I’m especially looking forward to using the glitter dimensional formula and the photo-transfer Mod Podge for holiday gifts.
With my new Mod Podge and a few dollar store pumpkins, I created BOO pumpkins to display in the living room.

If you’d like to make fabric pumpkins too, here’s a simple tutorial to get you started.
Supplies:
Fabric
Mod Podge
Paint (optional)
Ribbon (optional)
Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Begin by cutting fabric into strips; mine were about 1.25 inches wide. Protect your work surface—Mod Podge can get messy. For best results, dip each strip into the Mod Podge so it’s thoroughly saturated. Heavily coating the fabric makes it easier to smooth out air bubbles and helps the fabric adhere evenly. I used the Outdoor Mod Podge since I initially planned to place the pumpkins on my porch, but a matte finish would also work well.
Start at the top of the pumpkin and lay each coated strip down, smoothing as you go to remove bubbles and wrinkles. Overlap the edges slightly to ensure full coverage and a neat appearance.
Allow the pumpkins to dry completely before adding any finishing touches. I painted the stems black for a polished look, though that step is optional. To add personality, I found black wooden letters at a craft store and glued them on to spell BOO. A bit of glitter ribbon finished the look with a feminine flair.

This technique is a great way to transform inexpensive dollar store pumpkins that may not be attractive on their own but have plenty of potential.

Now I just need to decide where to place them. I’m in the middle of a living room makeover and debating the best spot for my Halloween display. I also can’t decide if I prefer them sitting on black fabric or another surface. What do you think looks best?
